During your treatment, your Green Rose Acupuncture practitioner will use a range of diagnostic methods (including taking a full medical history and reading your pulses) to design your individual treatment plan.
We only use the highest quality, single-use, disposable and sterile specialist acupuncture needles, these are smaller than a human hair, made of high quality surgical grade stainless steel with extreme flexibility.
The introductory session includes some acupuncture treatment to start addressing the symptoms and problems from the very start, we will also fully evaluate and listen to your situation, providing a custom plan that is aimed optimising your health and wellbeing. As a general guide, we would recommend follow-up sessions of approximately one hour every week for a total of 4 to 6 sessions, further sessions can be timed in accordance with the client needs. Many patients will benefit from ongoing treatments, helping them reach their goals while focusing on continuous wellbeing and relaxation.
Acupuncture in its various forms (dry-needling, TCM, Five Element) is an effective means to treat many types of pains, illnesses and injuries. A patient can visit an acupuncturist for all the same reasons you might go to a doctor, as well as for general wellbeing and health maintenance.
Acupuncture has been used successfully for thousands of years and is today classed as a very effective form of complementary treatment.
Common symptoms we see in clinic are:
- Chronic pain (such as headaches, back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis)
- Stress, anxiety, and depression
- Insomnia and other sleep disorders
- Digestive issues (like irritable bowel syndrome)
- Menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome
- Infertility and other reproductive issues
- Allergies
- Fatigue
- Migraines and tension headaches
- Respiratory conditions (such as asthma)
- Nausea and vomiting, especially chemotherapy-induced nausea
-Pregnancy related symtoms and pre-birth preparation
We are very sensitive to patient concerns with acupuncture, for those who have never had acupuncture before, it can appear initially daunting, please rest assured that acupuncture feels nothing like having an injection. At Green Rose Acupuncture we go out of our way to make you feel settled and comfortable, everybody reacts and feels the initial effects differently, however it is not uncommon to initially feel a sting or dull aching sensation, however it is common to become accustomed and even relaxed beyond this initial effect.
For an acupuncture appointment, it's best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that can easily be rolled up or adjusted to access common treatment areas such as the arms, legs, and occasionally the abdomen and back. This allows the acupuncturist to place needles without requiring significant clothing removal. Choosing flexible and accessible attire ensures a smoother and more comfortable treatment experience. You might also consider bringing a towel or blanket for added comfort during your session.
Before an acupuncture treatment, ensure you've eaten a light meal to avoid treatment on an empty stomach, which can sometimes lead to dizziness. Stay hydrated, but avoid consuming large amounts of caffeine or alcohol. It's also helpful to arrive a few minutes early to relax before your session. After treatment, take it easy and drink plenty of water to help your body flush out any toxins released during the session. Avoid strenuous activities or consuming alcohol immediately after to maximize the treatment's benefits and minimize any potential side effects.
A Community Acupuncture Clinic, located in Jenna Blair Yoga Studios, offers affordable acupuncture in a shared space, treating multiple patients simultaneously in multibed settings. This approach, common in the Far East and gaining popularity in the West over the last 10-20 years, is seen as an authentic practice. It allows for cost-effective treatments by utilising the time needles need to work (20-45 minutes), enabling practitioners to treat several patients within an hour. Privacy is maintained and minimal clothing removal is needed, making it essential to wear loose clothing for comfort and accessibility to treatment areas like arms and legs.
Many health insurance plans cover acupuncture. Coverage varies by insurer and policy. Patients should check their plan or contact their provider to understand coverage details, including conditions covered, co-pays, and if a referral is needed. It's also important to confirm if the if pre-authorisation is required for a smoother claims process.
